"Peace"
I
have always been interested in how things are done and how things work.
When I was 11 years old, my family moved into a neighborhood that was only
half built, so I got to watch most of the houses being built. I would go
around to the houses under construction, picking up pop bottles for the
refund money and was fascinated at what the houses looked like in the different
phases of construction. During the summer months, I would hang out while
the guys were working, staying back out of the way and not bothering them.
I would just sit there watching them work, trying to figure out what they
were doing, they respected this and would eventually invite me to join
them. After they taught me the skilled part of their job they would put
me to work on some menial task as a sort of payment for my education, I
loved it. I have always done all my own home repairs and improvements and
a lot for friends and family too. I like figuring out ways to do things,
I love a challenge. So if you get stuck on some do-it-yourself project
drop me a line, I'll try to help you as much as I can. I don't claim to
be an expert at anything but I have done a little of everything. My favorite
thing to make is sawdust, carpentry and woodworking. One of the most unusual
things I have made was a saddle stand with a life-size horse head carved
of wood. I would like to carve an entire horse of wood but never seem to
take the time to do much for myself. I would also like to build a boat
and eventually design and build a small airplane, that will be a while
though (a long while i'm afraid, but I can dream). I am now happily living
in an old school bus, a lifelong dream, traveling the country helping my
friends and family with home repairs and improvements. I can remember taking
my tape measure on the bus to high school to get the dimensions of the
bus and I drew a floor plan. At that time though, I had no idea I would
have so many tools that I can't do without, so the back half of the bus
is my wood shop and I live in the front half. I have all the comforts of
home and room to work (on small projects anyway). I started this adventure
of mine at the end of ‘96 and I still don't have the bus completely fixed
up like I plan to but I'm working on it, slowly but surely, and it is really
shaping up. Just got the engine rebuilt and on the road again. (June 2005)
